Ice Ice Baby
Don’t forget that tomorrow’s the first-ever Polar Plunge at Hawkins Point to raise money for New York’s Special Olympics athletes.
Forecasters say tomorrow will have intervals of clouds and sunshine and a balmy high of 49 degrees – a perfect day to take a dip into the St. Lawrence River.
Anyone who raises $100 for the cause gets an official “Plunge” sweatshirt to throw on after they’ve been in the river. And the more money you raise, the more great incentives you’ll receive.
You can set up your own personal Plunge team or do it individually. And to make things easier, you can log onto www.SpecialOlympicsNY.org and click on the St. Lawrence Seaway Plunge link, where you can personalize your page with a photo and story, invite friends to join you on your team and raise money in advance of the event.
If you need more information contact Brian Coakley at (315) 705-7993 (e-mail seawayplunge@yahoo.com) or Renee Snyder at (518) 388-0790, ext. 103 (e-mail rsnyder@nyso.org).
Registration starts at noon and the plunge begins at 2 p.m.
